During the workshop you will learn the easy route to designing a traditional Wholecloth quilt approximately 16″ x 16″ (40cm x 40cm) – cushion size. You will transfer your design to fabric then learn how to hand quilt.

Once you understand the basics, you can work to any size you wish.

During this workshop you will learn to create both straight and curved wave-like shapes in fabric.

In blues/greys/greens they resemble the sea, but have many other applications. The ‘waves’ have a slightly 3D visual effect.

During this workshop you will learn a method which makes free machine quilting much easier than you imagined.

Applique will be included. It is a very useful skill which intimidates a lot of people, but needn’t. You do, however, need a sewing machine with feed dogs which can be dropped, ask me, and a special free-motion quilting foot – you may have one and not know it!

During this workshop you will make two bowls – both can be completed within the workshop.

They are very satisfying to sew and make welcome gifts. Once you understand the principles, you can experiment with your own ideas in a variety of fabrics and forms.

During the workshop, using a variety of coloured and textured fabrics, you will create an A4 textile landscape. You will also add a border. Your image can then be framed or layered, quilted and embellished. Once you understand the techniques used, you can apply them to images of your own, to portray your home or a favourite landscape.

During this workshop you will cut and assemble nine free-cut blocks.

If you have time, you will also add sashing and borders. If you don’t get to this stage during the workshop, the instructions will tell you how to complete the top later.
